Piedmont Healthcare and Aetna reached agreement on terms for a three-year contract, executed on January 31 and effective February 1, 2011.
We are very pleased that we were able to reach a resolution for our four hospitals (Piedmont Hospital, Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Piedmont Mountainside Hospital and Piedmont Newnan Hospital) and over 700 physicians in the Piedmont Clinic, Piedmont Physicians Group and Piedmont Heart Institute, to ensure that our patients and communities continue to have access to high quality healthcare through choice of providers. There will be no disruption in services for our patients who are Aetna members.
Patients who cancelled services with a Piedmont hospital or physician may call us to reschedule. In addition, if a patient with an Aetna HMO plan had already selected a new physician, he or she may return to his/her Piedmont physician by calling Aetna to reestablish that provider relationship.
