Piedmont Selects Construction Management Firm for New Facility

NEWNAN, Ga. (Sept. 28, 2007) – The BE&K Building Group has been selected as the construction management firm for the new Piedmont Newnan Hospital facility. This announcement follows the recent decision by Piedmont Healthcare to sign a purchase agreement for property located on Poplar Road at the I-85 overpass on which to build the new facility.

The BE&K Building Group is part of an employee-owned, privately held company that includes nearly 700 people who are responsible for more than $1.6 billion of projects in construction. BE&K’s healthcare senior management team has an average of 25 years of experience representing more than $4 billion of successfully completed healthcare projects, including work at some of the most prominent healthcare facilities across the country. Currently, the BE&K Building Group is providing pre-construction and construction services on 14 healthcare campuses. The BE&K Building Group's parent company is Birmingham-based BE&K, Inc.

Under the leadership of KLMK Group, who was selected in June to lead project management for the new facility, the BE&K Building Group will be responsible for managing pre-construction and construction work for the new hospital.

Currently, Piedmont Healthcare is in the process of developing the Certificate of Need (CON) application to build the new replacement hospital, and location and development costs are critical pieces of the application. It will be filed with the state before March 1, 2008, according to Piedmont Healthcare’s commitment to the community.

As plans for the new facility move forward, the Piedmont Newnan Hospital leadership team remains focused on day-to-day operations and positive changes at the current hospital facility to enhance the patient experience.
